Showerloop: Save 33,000 Litres of Water Per Year

Showerloop results in a 90% reduction in water usage and 70-90% in energy reduction for a 10-minute shower with a flow rate of 10 l/min. What's more, the project has been released under a CERN Open Hardware License.

Showerloop is a water filtration and purification system that recycles shower water in real time allowing you to shower with hot water for a long time but only use 10 liters of water per shower (normal shower = ~6-10l/min) and a fraction of the energy (around one tenth) compared to a normal shower. The device can be installed inside or outside of a shower stall or bathtub and can save you 33,000 litres of water and 1 MWH of energy per person per year.

Showers are great, but pouring hot and almost drinkable water down the drain is not. To solve this problem Jason Selvarajan has created Showerloop. It’s a shower that collects cleans and reuses the water in real time while you are showering. So now you can shower for as long as you like without wasting precious resources.
